Our Beginnings

“When God says move, then move, even though everyone and everything seem contrary to it. If we follow when He steers then He’ll make us the head and not the tail.” That’s the truth which started and dictates the core of existence of Iloilo King of Glory Christian Academy Inc. (thenIloilo King of Glory) until now. Striving to excel in everything it does, the Academy is making its humble contribution in the lives of the students and the locality where it is domiciled.

From a humble beginning of 21 Nursery, Kinder and Prep pupils and only 19 finishing till March, IKGCA opened its threshold to the public in June 1997, using the Estancia Pentecostal Church premises which until now houses the Pre-Elementary Department. However, it was in 1992, when the Lord moved His servant to start a Christian quality school as an answer to the prayers of many Christian homes.  And this will be a vehicle too where the less fortunate brethren, much more in the islands, could avail of Christian education for a very minimal pay.

With permit to operate, the school offered Grade 1 class on the year 1998-1999. Every year, a level or two was added, that classes cannot be accommodated anymore in the limited space of the church. What started as a prayer request metamorphosed into a concerted goal that touched many hearts here and abroad. The church of Bro. Harry and Sis. Sherry Brown in Canada sent the money which they saved to build a church, so a 1.5 hectare of land could be purchased for the school.   In 1999, Pastor Dave Vigil of Norwalk, California and his congregation sent finances to start the construction of 3 classrooms.

In year 2000, the elementary department consisting of Grades 1 to 4 moved to its new location here in Cano-an, while the Pre-elementary Department was left in Golingan. Every year, rooms are added through the effort of Pastors Rob and Marty Schneider and the Shalom brethren.

Now, all levels enjoy Government Recognition:
Pre-Elementary = No. ER – 14, s. 2001
                Grades 1 and 2 = No. ER – 15, s. 2001
Grades 3 to 6 = No. ER – 03, s. 2004
First to Fourth Year = No. S -60, s. 2005

At present, IKGCA is an active member of Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), Private Schools Administrators Association of the Philippines (PRISAAP), and Iloilo Private School and Educators Association (IPSEA). The school participates actively, from the municipal up to the regional level, in the different programs of DepEd especially in sports, journalism, scouting, literary/musical contests, and other extra curricular activities. IKGCA is the youngest among the other private schools in the area, but in the achievements of its students, the Academy is “behind in no gift.”

In its continued adherence to the quest for excellence, IKGCA continues to improve so as to be responsive to the changes of times and needs of its clientele.

Yes, the school is still true to the reason why it was founded.
